Currently, the buyer pays for the notary fees in a French real estate transaction. If there are two notaries involved one for the buyer and one for the seller, the fee is the same for the buyer, the notaries each receive a portion of the fee paid.
Important: This means that if you are an English speaking buyer and the seller is French you can have your own English speaking French notary at no extra charge to you. There are many excellent native French notaries who speak very good English. Visit www.notaires.fr
