The French real estate sector is according to this article in LeFigaro (in French) is the engine of the French economy.

They write (via translation) “While the French economy as a whole saw its added value grow by 7% between 2020 and 2021, the growth of the French real estate industry and the city increased by 7.7% in the same period and represents 11% of GDP. With more than 51,100 jobs created in 2021, this sector has rebounded more than the French economy as a whole.”
