English speaking French real estate agents are not as common as you would hope as an English speaking person looking to buy real estate in France. Often when we receive an inquiry we are asked are there any English speaking French real estate agents people should avoid working with?
This is a difficult question to answer but it is work considering do you wish to work exclusively with an agent who is only going to show you properties they have listed with their agency or do you prefer to have a full view of all that is available in the market?
I have called agencies on numerious occassions asking them will they assist me by showing me everything that is on the market that fulfills my wish list and it continues to happen from time to time that I hear the response “only if we have it listed for sale, we do not work with other agencies…” This does not happen all the time but it is still an important question to ask the agent you meet will they show you all properties or just the ones they have listed for sale?
