Who is responsible for paying for the diagnostic reports on French residential real estate?
According to the notaries of France website.
As part of a sale of a residential French property, the cost of establishing the technical diagnostic file is the responsibility of the seller. However, the parties to the French property sale may agree to charge the purchaser the cost of these services.
As part of a rental of a residential French property, the law provides that the technical diagnosis file is provided by the lessor, the person offering the French property for rent. It follows that it is established at its exclusive expense of the lessor, the owner of the property.
