French Real Estate Important: Asbestos diagnosis becomes mandatory for small jobs
French real estate sellers and buyers need to now that since July 19 2019 it is now mandatory to carry out an Asbestos Identification Before Work (Repérage Amiante Avant Travaux or RAAT) before performing minor work in French real estate. The law provides up to 18,000 € fine.
According to this article in French here, it is noted that before any intervention in a building built before 1997 is done the diagnostic must be performed. This decree entered into force on July 19 which imposes henceforth not only to the professionals but also to individuals to carry out this diagnosis even before minor work.
