The French real estate market typically offers a large selection of property for sale but most of the advertisements are in French. So it is really a good idea to learn how to decode the French in the advertisements. Sure your English speaking French real estate agent can help you but the money saving value they offer you is their professional ability to negotiate the best price for you, this is way more important than their ability to translate advertisements.
Here is an example of a French real estate advertisement for an apartment in French and I am going to do my best to translate it for you below. Note: the translation is not a word for word but a meaning translation. I am not trying to be exact just give you a sense of the property.
“2 P transformable en 3 P, atypique, au cœur d’une copropriété ancienne: accès par escalier privé, entrée distribuant une grande pièce à vivre avec cuisine ouverte de 45 m² donnant sur une terrasse de 17m², une chambre et une salle de bains avec water closet à l’étage. 2ème chambre possible.”
“One bedroom apartment that can be transformed into a two bedroom, not your typical floor plan, in the center of an older residence, access by stairs, entry leads to a big living room with an American style open kitchen 45 m2 in size that opens onto a 17 m2 terrace, one bedroom, one bathroom with a toilet up a stairs, 2nd bedroom possible”
