UAE Abu Dhabi Invest 750 million Euros in French Buildings

After Qatar, who have investors buying famous French buildings such as the Carlton International Hotel in Cannes, UAE investors (as part of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority) will spend nearly 750 million Euros to acquire beautiful real estate in Paris and Lyon this year. Final signing is expected to take place in December 2013.

The purchase is being made by the sovereign fund of the emirate in the middle east and the purchase is to buy the assets of Docks Lyonnais, a real estate company owned by the Swiss bank UBS. Examples, of what will be purchased included the address 6 to 8 Boulevard Haussmann in the Opera district of Paris.

What is a Grenier or Vide Grenier in a French advertisement?

The French term Grenier refers to an attic, the storage area under the roof in a house.

The term ‘vide’ means empty and when the two words are put together ‘vide grenier’ you have what is a sale of items by people who want to empty out their attics.

In North American the equivalent to a Vide Grenier is a garage sale where a property own uses their garage as a temporary store location to sell items to the public passing by.
