When is the French Property Diagnostic for Radon Required?

Sellers of French real estate located in an area in France where there a potential risk of Radon gas as of July 1st 2017 will be required to have a diagnosis done to inform buyers of existence of this risk. Landlords will also be obliged to have the same diagnostic performed and share the result with renters.

Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas.

Note again, the start date of this requirement is July 1st 2017 and the buildings concerned and the modalities of monitoring and levels of activity concentration risk will be defined by regulation. Contact your English speaking French notary for more details.

France bans usage of pesticides great news for French property owners

France is banning usage of Pesticides privately and publicly!

I was shocked to find out that France is one of the top sellers of chemical pesticides in all of Europe.

You will see the details here. 

With all the beautiful flowers and vineyards, this is not good to hear.

THE GOOD NEWS: 

As of 2017 French law prohibits the usage of synthetic pesticides in France in public places by professionals with the exception of graveyards. In 2019 this law expands to private gardeners. So over the counter purchase of chemical pesticides will no longer be available then.
