The reason why the consumer protection law in France is called ‘la loi scrivener’ is because they were drafted by a person called Scrivener, Christiane Scrivener to be exact.

The ‘Loi Scrivener’ is one reason why French property buyers have to have their offer of financing in writing. The loi (law) also states that the French property buyer also has the right to the ten day mortgage cooling off period and more.
