In French real estate a Bastide is a term used for a manor house in the south of France. A Bastide is typically larger and more elegant than a Mas (defined here). Historically, Bastide’s were occupied by wealthy French Farmers.
A Bastide can be square in design with a tile roof and may be built around an inner courtyard.
