In a French real estate advertisement the words ‘a rénover’ or ‘rénové’ have completely opposite meanings.
‘A rénover’ means the property needs to be renovated and ‘rénové’ means the property has been renovated. However, the level of the renovation and the quality of the renovation varies from house to house, apartment to apartment in France and one person’s opinion of a renovation is not the same as another persons opinion in terms of completeness or quality.
Tip: look for the French term ‘entièrement’ which means entirely placed before the word rénové if you are looking for a more complete renovation.
