What does the French word Toit or Toiture mean in a real estate ad?

If you see the word ‘toit’ or ‘toiture’ in a French real estate advertisement they are referring to the roof. In fact, ‘toit’ means ‘roof’ and ‘toiture’ means ‘roofing’. Both words refer to the outside roof of a building.

If you are referring to the ceiling inside an apartment or house the word typically used is ‘plafond’.
