French Mountain Zones: New vehicle equipment obligations in winter

In France you may be driving to your French property or to a French ski resort in winter and find you are blocked because a vehicle in front of you is stuck in the snow. To limit these French traffic jams on the roads in mountainous regions in France and improve user safety, there is a new obligation in place that means you will need to equip your vehicle with winter tires or have chains in your boot during winter in some municipalities. The obligation will enter into force on 1 st November 2021.
