French Real Estate Prices in 2013 no Market Crash or Collapse

French property prices did not collapse in 2013, according to a report by MeilleurTaux published in Le Figaro.

In fact according to this French real estate report the market over all only declined about 1 to 2 percent in France during 2013.

Overall, there was no collapse in sale prices or number of sales this year as was sometimes predicted.

Buyers of French property still have inexpensive mortgages available and this favorable market should continue into 2014 according to the report.

2013 French Bank Mortgages contain concealed Errors

According to an article published in Le Figaro, the errors may not be intentional but a result of different ways in which banks calculate the interest rate.

2013 French Property Rents have Increased this year BUT

According to l’Observatoire des loyers Clameur, French real estate rental costs has increased by 0.6 % since the beginning of the year 2013.

In fact, this is an amount less than inflation. Last year at the same time the increase was much higher. It reached 2.4 percent.

This change , according to the Observatory, is due to the economic crisis. Rent increases have been reduced in small properties like studios and one bedroom apartments since the demand for small units is lower. They are typically rented by students and the students are believed to be back living at home with parents now to save money.

In contrast bigger apartments like two bedrooms and four bedrooms have higher than the average rental increase up 1.3 percent and 2 percent respectively.
