Checking your French villa or any French building for building defects before you sign any papers is a very good idea. You do not want to find out later there are hidden defects that make you regret buying the property.
Note: In our awareness in France it is not common for buyers to ask for a property purchase to be ‘subject to the buyer approving a building inspection’ as is common and recommended in the North American market place. So be prepared to ask the French property owner can you do this before you make an offer and remember it will be at your cost.
Be aware the owner may refuse you having the right to do the inspection.
Note: if you are going to get an inspection of the property contact an inspecter in advance of your checking out property in the area you like to make sure you have an inspector available when you want to make an offer
