France the First Country to Ban Plastic Plates and Cutlery

As of 2020, France will officially ban plastic plates, cups and utensils.

One will still be allowed to use items made of compostable, biosourced materials such as corn.

This is part of France’s energy transition initiative agreed to in August 2015.
