According to a recent article in Explorimmo the average French household spends 1800 euros per year on their energy bill.

This is great inspiration to make some changes to your French real estate to reduce your personal expenses and to enhance your French property’s value to potential buyers. To assist you there is French government financial assistance available subject to qualification.

French real estate buyers you will be happy to know the government of France offers this same financial incentives (after qualification) to encourage you to upgrade the energy efficiency of your French real estate.

What is killing a lot of French people at home?

Your dream French real estate can be burned down and lives can be lost if a fire starts and gets out of control. One way to help prevent tragedy is to install a smoke detector.

According to the French minister of Housing a fire happens every two minutes in France causing 10,000 injuries and 800 deaths each year.

What is shocking is that according to an article in Explorimmo Gaëlle Alloin a director of marketing for KIDDE, a company that sells smoke detectors “only around 60 to 65 percent of homes in France have a smoke detector” even though a law requiring the installation of a smoke detector in French homes came into effect almost one year ago. Read more here.

Make sure that when you move into your new French property you check smoke detectors are in place and functioning and keep them maintained.
