Susans French Oasis a French real estate dream

French real estate can lead to all kinds of wonderful experiences.

About two weeks ago we decided to create an Instagram account as a way of sharing all the beautiful pictures we have of French real estate.

As a result of one posting on Instagram I came in contact with Susan the owner of a blog about her life in France very nicely name Our French Oasis as it is just that for her family.

Curious to learn more about how Susan, her husband, their five children, two dogs, two cats and approximately 10 chickens (!) live their life in France I gave her a phone call.

French Real Estate Market Upturn Now in Effect 2016

The French real estate market is now in an upturn.

Can this be sustained?

When you read the latest report of the notaries of France on the French real estate market you will notice some interesting trends.

The current rise in prices is a bit deceptive.

In Greater Paris year over year the ten to fifteen percent increase in sales volumes is still lower than the years of 1999-2007.

In the French Provinces year over year the rise is still under eight percent.

In addition, the recent rise in prices over the last six months simply off sets the downward trend in the last six months.

Worth noting:

Low interest rates is still keeping buying power strong.

Supply is still very positive.

The Notaries say Buyers needs to make decisions soon before supply starts to go down and interest rates start to go up.

French Mortgage Interest Rates 2016 Trend Going Down Down Again

French Mortgage Interest Rates that have been said to be going to go up by the experts have now been shown to have gone down on average for the month of February 2016.

In fact the rates on average have been going down for several months according to information shared in this new Explorimmo article in French.

The article quotes that according to the Observatoire Crédit Logement (French) who study changes in the French credit market the average interest rate for February was 2.09 percent

Compared to 2.15 percent for January 2016

Compared to 2.20 percent for December 2015

Compared to 2.22 percent for November 2015

The amount you pay for a mortgage is related to many factors including the length of the term, the location of the property location and personal factors including income.

The lower interest rate impacts how much you pay for your home. A lower interest rate can mean you save substantially on the cost of your property over time. Some people wait till prices go down. However, using low interest rates to buy when you cannot pay cash can lead to substantial savings.
