What does the term Dependence mean in a French real estate ad?

French property owners or French real estate agents sometimes use the term Dependence to describe what we call in English an ‘out building’ or storage shed that is located on a property separate from the main building.

The term dependence could also be used as a way to describe a small building on a property that could be used as a workshop.
