A French real estate agent may have a written agreement with a buyer to find a property for him or her. This type of agreement is similar but not the same as a Buyer’s agency agreement in North America. In France the contract between the agent and the buyer is called a ‘mandate de recherché

Under a ‘mandate de recherché‘ the agent is often paid by the buyer.
