What does the French term Maison Plain Pied mean in a real estate ad?

The French real estate term Maison de Plain Pied is referring to a house that is all on one level. That is you enter and you will find the main living area, kitchen, bedrooms, washroom etc all on one floor. You will not have an stairs going to a different level. Unless there is an area sous sol.

In some country’s a French maison de plain pied  would be called a Bungalow or Rancher or single storey home or even a Irish Cottage can be ‘plain pied’.
