What documents must a buyer or seller of a French property show the notary on the day of the signing of Acte de Vente?

When the final signing of a French property takes place at a notary’s office the buyer and the seller must show their official personal identification in the form of a passport plus marriage or divorce documents to the French notary. The notary will then take a copy of these documents.

Your French notary may also require you to bring additional documents. Simply contact your notary before the date of the signing to confirm what you need to bring.
