Non Residents and New French Real Estate Tax Law

We just learned about a new French law being drafted that will increase the amount of tax Non Residents will pay for real estate they own in France.

In summary, courtesy of Delphine Parigi, French Tax Attorney, if accepted the following will happen:

Non-residents: Application of social security contributions, i.e, 15.5%, effective 1 January 2012 to rental income and from the implementation of the Amended Finance Act regarding capital gains of individuals, non-resident in France
