Nîmes is a French city located in the Gard department in the South of France and is famous for it’s 2000 year old Roman monuments built because the city was an important location for the Roman Empire.
The Roman monuments are extremely well preserved and include a Roman arena that is still used for concerts and special events.
In the center of Nîmes you can sit down and enjoy a relaxing moment in one of the local cafes that is beside the Maison Carrée which is a very well preserved white limestone Roman temple.
There is also an indoor market place in Nîmes called ‘les halles’ de Nîmes’
