In a French property sale the compromis de vente typically shows a date by which the Acte de Vente needs to be signed. However, this date can end up being changed for a number of reasons. So when you are buying or selling a French property and you don’t live in France be careful not to plan your visit to the notary’s office for the final signing as if the date was fixed.

Make sure you consult with your French notary about this question.
